CPDHPE6010   Planning for the AC HPE

Course Description:  Teachers planning for the Australian Curriculum Health and Physical Education require considerable skills and professional knowledge to prepare a yearly plan  that incorporates the scope of the curriculum.

This courses considers the macro level process of planning a new curriculum including :-

  • a school wide audit of HPE delivery across faculty 
  • undertaking a needs analysis of student interests
  • developing a band overview
  • unpacking the five propositions and what it means for practice
  • what does a strengths based approach look like in a lesson
  • prepare a facilities and resource audit

Target Audience:   HPE Teachers, Curriculum designers, HOD's.

Course Description:  Building on the skills gained in CPDHPE6010 , this course aims to provide a framework for  designing and implementing units of work.  This course considers the micro level at which learning pathways and resource development are essential components-

  • refining band overview 
  • aligning achievement standards to content and focus areas
  • planning for units of work
  • development of a yearly scope and sequence
  • identifying and utilising teaching resources and support materials

Target Audience:   HPE Teachers, Curriculum designers, HOD's.

Understanding the relationship between structural elements of the curriculum
Understanding a whole-of-school approach to curriculum implementation
Applying an integrated approach to programming HPE in your school

Course Description:  This course considers all aspects of assessment specific to HPE including :-

  • unpacking the standards  - what does quality performance look like in HPE?
  • types of assessment in HPE
  • creation of an assessment plan
  • collecting and recording evidence 
  • making on-balance judgements on student performance
